Our dedicated staff at Strictly Reptiles has been graciously providing reptile and exotic animal wholesale services for over 30 years. Our team is passionate about our industry and is constantly striving to provide the best customer service along with premium care for the animals we breed. We’ve mentioned in previous blog posts that reptiles as pets have steadily grown in popularity in recent years. Bearded Dragons have quickly become one of the most popular reptile species on the market falling behind only ball pythons. Needless to say, our Bearded Dragon Breeders have their hands full. Bearded Dragons are low maintenance pets in comparison to many other species, but will still need a loving and attentive home.
Strictly Reptiles is always stressing the importance of maintaining high standards of operation in our business because we understand the importance for these benchmarks in our industry. Our business is based on the breeding and transportation of live animals; our team at Strictly Reptiles doesn’t take this fact lightly. We care about the animals that we help breed like our own pets until we pass them along to another set of trusting and caring hands. We treat our animals with dignity and respect and as a result, our animals remain healthy and happy throughout their time with us until they have reached their permanent home and family. Strictly Reptiles has a wide selection of agamids besides the Bearded Dragon including:
- Butterfly Agama
- Frilled Dragon
- Blue Eyed Crested Dragon
- Mountain Horned Lizard
- Blue Rainbow Lizard
- Water Dragon
Bearded Dragons are fascinating creatures. There are many facts about Bearded Dragons that you may not have realized. Our Bearded Dragon Breeders understand how special and interesting these lizards truly are. Strictly Reptiles loves sharing our insight on some of the characteristics displayed by these amazing animals as well as many of the other species we carry. Bearded dragons received their distinguishing name from their ability to puff up their throat making it look like they are sporting a thick beard. A bearded dragon may puff up their throat for a medley of distinct reasons, for example:
- As a mating/courtship response (aww they’re in love)
- As a way to make room when accidentally drinking too much water at once
- As an intimidation tactic when angry or threatened (the beards will turn jet black if the Bearded Dragon is stressed)
- As a demonstration that it has become excited about something
Bearded Dragons originally hailed from Australia. In their native habitats, they are naturally curious animals that will readily take shelter in areas near people. Bearded dragons may seem like slow-moving sluggish creatures but are actually quite fast if they want or have to be. They are extraordinarily quick runners and can even run on their hind two legs when escaping threats like predators. Unlike most lizards that prefer spending their times in the crevices between rocks, Bearded Dragons would much rather make camp within shrubbery or in the confines of tree branches. These areas seem to be selected by Bearded Dragons mainly because of the ample amounts of insects that they can feed on within the greenery’s perimeter.
